Marvel's Red Skull Shield: From Concept to Completion
This ‘broken’ Red Skull shield, part of the Marvel Captain America display at Madame Tussauds in New York features a mix of fabrication, art & design services. Made with the clay-formed Captain America’s dimensions in mind, this shield was designed to stand out under the lighting at the wax museum.
A mix of carpentry and metalworking was utilized to make this piece stand out and appear as if it had been shattered apart. We carefully marked the shield for texturized paint to create a matte look on the shield once the design was completed. The dimensions of this project appeared large in the studio, and right on par with Captain America’s stature once installed. How do you think we did?
